Numericable’s LaBoxTV Everywhere

August 20, 2014

From Pascale Paoli-Lebailly in Paris

French cable operator Numericable has unveiled new services linked to its TV and Internet STB LaBox Fibre, – including a new app called LaBoxTV. The app gives access to more than 320 TV channels (119 outside the home) from tablets and smartphones, on both iOS and Android.

This app, available to all 380,000 LaBox Fibre subscribers, will launch on September 1st. The TV channels will be available on both 3G and 4G, along with the replay and VoD services, and multimedia content can be downloaded into the Media Centre (recorded content, photos, videos, music).

Viewers using the app will also be able to watch live on a portable device and simultaneously watch a different channel on their TV set.

Enriched functionalities include the automatic recognition of LaBox Fibre by the YouTube mobile app. Any video will thus be able to be transferred easily from a tablet or a smartphone to the TV set. A restart TV service will also allow viewers to start an ongoing programme from the beginning.
