THEMA signs agreement with iROKOtv Partners

October 30, 2014

THEMA and iROKOtv Partners are reinforcing their collaboration with the signing of an exclusive two-year-long agreement to provide some 200 films/year to Nollywood TV.

These films will be broadcast for the very first time in French in all of French-speaking Africa and in France, only on Nollywood TV.

This excellent initiative seals the alliance between English-speaking and French-speaking Nollywood leaders. It also guarantees the viewers high quality contents with very recent films (2013/2014), challenging international productions more and more.

For reminder, Nollywood TV is the African fiction channel that has imposed itself as the Nollywood reference in French – only two years afters its creation and launching in France and then in French-speaking Africa.

This partnership forms part of THEMA’s strategy for Nollywood TV, i.e. to develop and reinforce its position as television channels creator and thus to promote the second largest film industry in the world beyond its borders and without any language barrier.

Furthermore, both partners have initiated coproduction projects aiming to create exclusive 100% made-in-Nigeria TV series for Nollywood TV viewers. We can already announce first hand that you will get to see the series “Lagos Cougars” based on the successful eponymous film by 2015.

Jason Njoku, Iroko CEO, has declared: “We’re thrilled to be supplying Thema with 200 Nollywood titles – they are now a gateway for all French-speaking Nollywood fans to access the best movies the industry has to offer and we hope that this partnership will be the start of a very close working relationship between iROKOtv and Nollywood TV”

François Thiellet, THEMA CEO, added “Were are pleased to announce this agreement with a quality partner such as iROKOtv. It comes to reinforce our strategy aiming to increase the influence of the African industry in the media. We are convinced that with such quality films Nollywood TV will strengthen its position of leader on the French-speaking market.”

Clémentine Tugendhat, head of Nollywood TV, insists “Besides this partnership which guarantees high quality programs to our viewers, we are truly determined to invest more and more in the Nollywood industry with our partner iROKOtv. The made-in-Nollywood series which will be exclusively on our channel by early 2015 are only the first, I hope, of many to come.”
