Satellite operator Eutelsat and Italian TV channel SuperTennis have teamed up to air the finals of the Italian Serie A1 tennis championship (male and female) in Ultra-HD.

The event, taking place 6th – 8th December at the 105 Stadium in Genoa, will be broadcast live on 4K1, the first satellite channel in Europe to convey TV images in the highest quality standard in circulation: HEVC format, 50 frames per second and a colour depth of 10 bits.

The images of the matches will be produced by InMedia while Rohde and Schwarz will provide the equipment for the coding of the signal. An SNG station from MThree will be responsible for the uplink of the signal that will reach Eutelsat’s Rambouillet teleport via the Eutelsat 12 West A satellite, before continuing its journey on to Hot Bird, which reaches more than 120 million households across Europe, North Africa and the Middle East.

The event will be broadcast live in some stores, members of the Aires association, which represents the major companies and major groups specialising in the sale of consumer electronics and appliances in Italy.
