smartclip and Toshiba team up

January 22, 2015

smartclip has announced a new partnership with Toshiba. As a technology and marketing platform for digital video advertising, smartclip secures the European advertising rights for Toshiba’s Smart TV platform, continuing to expand its advertising inventory in the smart TV and addressable TV domains. As a partner to Toshiba, smartclip will deliver digital video campaigns on the home screens of Toshiba devices throughout Europe: it is now possible for brand manufacturers to place their advertising formats on the highly visible home screen menu.

Together with this additional smart TV inventory, advertisers and agencies can now access addressable TV inventory programmatically through smartclip’s proprietary private video exchange, the SmartX Platform, to address their target audiences even more efficiently across all screens. This programmatic access, for the first time, finally makes it possible to book advertising formats dynamically and in real-time on both smart TV platforms and in addressable TV. In its smart TV monetisation, smartclip constantly evolves its holistic approach of delivering digital, ad-server based video advertising across all screens independent of the technology used to supply the content.

Olivier Van Wynendaele, Head of TV Cloud Services at Toshiba said: “We made a conscious decision in favour of smartclip’s monetization skills, their passion for the subject and – of course – their expertise. What particularly impressed us was the opportunity to have one pan-European partner to contribute to the growth of our advertising business.”

“Toshiba is one of the most successful TV manufacturers and is at home in countless living rooms around the world and Smart TV platforms are an extremely attractive advertising segment which address entertainment focused users. We are very pleased to have gained yet another powerful partner to give us a strong start to the new year,” said Jean-Pierre Fumagalli, CEO smartclip. He continued: “Of course, while expertise in the subject area of Smart TVs is absolutely required, size is a crucial factor for monetisation potential. With this new partnership, we offer a great benefit for Toshiba while also offering the advertising industry the largest combined smart TV coverage by far.”

With Toshiba as a new partner, smartclip continues to expand video advertising distribution on connected TVs in the year 2015 further enhancing its market leadership in this segment. smartclip has already entered a number of long-term alliances with other major TV manufacturers.
