MTG wins Mayweather vs Pacquiao Nordic rights

Floyd Mayweather Jr, boxerMTG has secured the exclusive Nordic rights to the widely anticipated boxing match between Floyd Mayweather Jr and Manny Pacquiao.

The fight can be seen live on PPV on the Viasat satellite platform and online streaming service Viaplay in Norway, Denmark and Finland. In Sweden it will be available on Viaplay.

The event will take place on May 2nd in MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas and it will be a 12 round championship fight for the WBO, WBA and WBC welterweight world titles.

“This fight between two legends of the sport will be an historic event for boxing. MTG has the best sports portfolio in the Nordic region, so it was only  natural that we secured the rights to share the event with local viewers,” commented Peter Nørrelund, MTG Head of Sports

The fight is expected to break all records in terms of revenue and could exceed earnings of $500 milion, and in the US the fight is predicted to be the single-most selling PPV event ever.

“This will certainly be the highest grossing fight ever. Using PPV was the only way to bring it on the screens of Nordic viewers. It will be broadly available so all boxing fans can take part in the once in a lifetime experience,” added Nørrelund

MTG also has the option of selling the event as PPV on other pay-TV platforms in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland.
