Sky Italia best Q3 for 3 years

Sky Italia saw growth during Q3 – and the first real progress of note for 3 years – reporting a net subscriber growth of 12,000.

The improvement reversed a net loss of customers last year and helped increase the Italian’s pay-TV broadcaster’s total customer base to 4.75 million. Sky Italia, along with Sky UK and Sky Deutschland, saw extremely good news in its churn numbers, with cancellations falling to 9.7 per cent (annualised) compared to 10.9 per cent a year earlier.

Operating profits at Sky Italia were up £5 million to £45 million, which demonstrated the “continued resilience of the business in difficult economic conditions,” according to the broadcaster.

Advertising revenues were also up 5 per cent, helped by the performance of free-to-air channel Cielo, while total paid-for products increased to 8.71 million from 8.30 million this time last year.
