ARRIS Group has revealed will offer Akamai Technologies’ Aura Licensed Content Delivery Network (LCDN) as part of its end-to-end IP video portfolio.
ARRIS will integrate Akamai’s LCDN and Aura Object Store into its IP video solutions – such as the ARRIS M3 Media Server, Spectrum CPC, and nDVR – to give operators a variety of choices for streamlining, managing, and scaling digital content delivery. It will also support operators as they adopt multiscreen and mobile delivery platforms.
“As customer expectations around TV viewing and video consumption change, pay-TV solutions must evolve as well. A key part of that evolution for network operators is the adoption of CDN technology as part of their overall solution. We’re pleased that ARRIS chose to partner with Akamai, recognizing the advantages of combining our Aura CDN solutions with their TV Everywhere products. We’re confident that the partnership with ARRIS will expand Akamai’s presence with network and cable operators and also help us scale from a support perspective,” said Mick Scully, vice president and general manager, Carrier Products, Akamai Technologies.
“Our partnership with Akamai empowers operators to capitalize on end-to-end HTTP video delivery at scale – giving consumers the personalized entertainment that they demand. Our combined solutions are broadening ARRIS’s capabilities in multiscreen IP video delivery, CDN-assisted VoD, and network DVR. Together, we’re inventing the future of content delivery,” added Peter Burke, Senior Vice President & General Manger of Video Systems at ARRIS.
