West Midlands TV channel Canadian investment

April 29, 2015

The West Midlands’ new television station, Big Centre TV, has received backing from a Canadian media company.

Saskatchewan-based Trek 2000 has invested in Big Centre TV as the company looks to expand its interests into the UK’s burgeoning local TV market.

The Trek 2000 Corporation was created by Canadian entrepreneurs Gordon and Maureen Haddock in 1986 and has since grown into a successful multi-faceted business which encompasses a range of industries, one of which being television production.

As part of the investment Haddock has become a director of Kaleidoscope TV, the owner of Big Centre TV, as he looks to bring his experience and energy to the Walsall based station.

Haddock commented: “The UK is still at the beginning of the journey with regard to local TV but from our experience we recognise the demand that exists for a dedicated regional channel and the possibilities for success that it offers. The talent and experience of delivering successful television that exists both within Big Centre TV and in the wider West Midlands region is phenomenal, and the work that the team have put in to successfully launch a local TV station within three months is testament to their talent and drive.”
