Roku Search, Roku Feed and Roku 2 roll out

May 26, 2015

The roll-out of a major software update across all Roku players has commenced. The update will see the introduction of two new features aimed at giving Roku users more choice and helping them to find and follow content more easily.

Roku Search will allow users to search for movies, TV shows, actors and directors, with the results showing the availability and pricing of related content across participating channels. This search functionality will initially be supported by Netflix, Snagfilms and Popcornflix. More channels are expected to complement this list over time.

My Feed allows users to follow upcoming entertainment they want to watch. The launch of this software will focus on  ‘Movies Coming Soon’, with consumers able to follow films currently at cinemas for reminders on when they are available to stream, on what channel and at what price.

A new, upgraded Roku 2 is also now available in the UK. The device enables streaming of content and music and features an enhanced remote.
