Yip TV adds Ten FilmBox Channels in the U.S.

September 22, 2015

Broadband OTT television service YipTV has announced the addition of 10 new FilmBox channels from the SPI International worldwide channel portfolio to its rapidly expanding lineup of international TV content.

Yip TV now offers subscribers non-stop access to: FightBox, DocuBox, FashionBox, Fast’nFunBox, 360 TuneBox, MadscreenBox, FilmBox Arthouse, FilmBox Russia, Kino Polska Int’l and Kino Polska Muzyka. SPI channels will become part of the premium package and will extend the YipTV line up of 70 channels for the monthly subscription for $14.99, no contract required.

YipTV has been steadily amassing sports, entertainment, news and other TV fare from around the world as it pursues a strategy of serving more than 40 million foreign-born people living in the U.S.  Its early channel offerings catered primarily to Spanish-speaking subscribers but its most recent additions include a broader mix of channels.

“As we look to broaden YipTV’s appeal to our target market, we feel the FilmBox channels from SPI International go a long way toward diversifying our mix of content,” said CEO Michael Tribolet.  “We’re not yet anywhere near the breadth of programming we want to offer but these FilmBox channels represent a big step in that direction.”

Speaking for SPI International, President Loni Farhi said: “We are excited to make our channels available on YipTV to provide diverse types of programming to both ethnic and general audiences in the U.S. Our worldwide channels FightBox HD, DocuBox HD, FashionBox HD, Fast’nFun-Box and 360 TuneBox have a general appeal to most viewers as they offer mainstream-level interest, while FilmBox Russia and the two Kino Polska channels cater to a particular ethnic group,” he said. “Finally, FilmBox Arthouse should generate interest among film aficionados who wish to have access to independent and arthouse films that are not easily accessible via main outlets in the U.S. in particular.”

YipTV is the first provider of personalized, low-cost TV content that eliminates the need for cable or satellite TV subscriptions.  It’s available over any type of wired or wireless broadband connection.

The service uses Internet-based delivery technology to provide affordable access to 17 free international channels with no credit card required at sign up, plus premium national and international programming at only $14.99 a month, with no long-term service commitments or contracts.

In addition to Android or iOS-enabled smart devices, YipTV also lets subscribers use a Smart TV, laptop or desktop computer.
