International Datacasting selected by STT for Audio Network Refresh

September 29, 2015

International Datacasting (IDC) are proud to announce that they have been selected by Servicios Tecnicos en Telecomunicaciones (STT) to upgrade a radio distribution network of a leading radio provider in Guatemala.
The STAR Pro Audio Solution has been selected to replace our long-lasting ABR receivers after decades of services. Our proven audio solutions include advanced features, which allow operators to improve audio quality, increase advertising revenues and reduce costs.
“IDC’s industry-leading STAR Pro Audio Solution is second to none in terms of reputation for quality and reliability, which were key factors in our decision to upgrade this network,” said Fernando Andrade, President of Servicios Tecnicos en Telecomunicaciones.  “In addition, the solution provides the best total cost of ownership thanks to a most efficient use of satellite bandwidth.”

The solution included IDC’s P561 audio encoder and the STAR-1 Pro Audio satellite receiver. The decoders support the latest High-Efficiency Advanced Audio Coding (AAC HE), providing superior audio quality and reduced bandwidth requirements, as well as MPEG Layer 2 for compatibility with existing systems.
“The selection of the STAR Pro Audio solution for yet another radio network upgrade validates our commitment to the audio market,” said Steeve Huin, Co-Chief Executive Officer of IDC.  “The STAR-4 Generation Two Pro Audio is particularly suited for rapid deployment and enables operators to save operating costs while improving quality of audio to the listeners, and high-end features such as Ad-Insertion or Professional Media Recording can be enabled over time.”
