October 6, 2015

From Branislav Pekic in Rome

Italian thematic channel producer Giglio Group has acquired M-Three SatCom, a Milan-based provider of services and solutions for the broadcast sector.

M-Three Sat-Com operates two satellite teleports (in Milan and Rome), a fleet of outside broadcast units for production and transmission, and a fibre optics infrastructure able to reach points of access and media centres all around the world.

The €2.65 million deal will allow Giglio Group to incorporate the strategic partner’s TV signal distribution technology with its content platform and TV channels broadcast worldwide, in addition to achieving obvious economies of scale.

M-Three has strong potential for growth, particularly internationally, which combines with the overall development strategy of Giglio Group who is set to benefit from a significant increase of its consolidated revenues already from 2016.

M-Three closed 2014 with revenues of €8.3 million and an EBITDA of €586.000, showing substantial growth.

For its part, Giglio Group ended the first half of 2015 with €6.8 million in revenues (+15 per cent y/y), while profit reached €2.73 million (+68 per cent y/y).

Giglio Group produces four thematic channels in Italy (Music Box, Yacht & Sail, Play.me, Acqua) and, internationally, the Nautical Channel (available on more than 100 distribution platforms and has 20 million subscribers), dedicated to sailing. From this month, the channel is also available in the UAE and Oman, following the signing of a distribution deal with local IPTV platform du.
