Zee Media’s plan to launch a news channel, and with global ambitions, is taking shape.  Zee Media’s chairman Subhash Chandra says the channel will launch in February-March next year. The channel is rumoured to be partnering with CNN but Chandra declined to confirm – or deny – that the Turner Broadcasting news giant would be his broadcasting partner.

Chandra was speaking at an IAA meeting in Mumbai, and told delegates that the channel would be seeking ‘founding partner’ status for key technology players. He added that the channel would be a technology-driven news channel.

He also talked about exporting the channel to North America, and urged the US government to open up the possibilities for inward media investment into the US.

Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd (ZEEL) reported Q2 profits up 17.8 per cent on October 14th.
