Technicolor builds 20m STBs for DirecTV PanAmericana

Technicolor has manufactured the 20th million set-top-box for DirecTV PanAmericana. Over the past 22 years Technicolor has worked in partnership with DirecTV to provide a wide range of basic and advanced set-top-boxes for use in the US and throughout Latin America.

In 1993 Technicolor (formerly Thomson) was selected by DirecTV to design and manufacture the company’s first set-top-box, the DBS-1. On June 17th 1994 DirecTV launched their direct to home video service relying on Technicolor to provide high quality set-top-boxes built to the stringent quality and safety requirements established by DirecTV, including ISO 9000, IEC60065, and numerous other global standards.
