Hollywood veteran David Goldsmith has agreed to join Film On TV Networks, Inc. as Chief Strategy Officer and Head of Corporate Development. Goldsmith has already been serving as a corporate strategist for FilmOn, identifying strategic partnership opportunities. He has been instrumental in bringing transactional PPV Video On Demand service (TVoD) to FilmOn.

Goldsmith has a distinguished background as a broadcast television executive and producer with more than 20 years of continuous work in Hollywood, having worked at most major studios in a senior executive capacity including, MGM, Paramount, Fox, Lorimar/Warners, Grant Tribune, and having supervised or produced hundreds of hours of television programming including Shogun, Winds of War, Valerie, and Max Headroom. Goldsmith owns and operates a full service strategic consulting practice for digital media entrepreneurs, working with early stage tech companies, IP-OTT broadband platforms, content creation for the web, including portal aggregators.

“I’m pleased to welcome David Goldsmith to FilmOn TV at this amazing time of growth and innovation,” said FilmOn TV Network CEO Alki David. “It’s like having another black belt in our C-suite. And he’s already begun kicking ass.”

“l’ve worked with the best in Hollywood, and there’s nowhere I’d rather be right now than blazing new programming opportunities with Alki David and FilmOn in this amazing time of change in the industry,” said Goldsmith. “FilmOn’s rise has been meteoric—with over 600 channels, free ad supported movies and TV, social programming and now TVoD. FilmOn will become one of the first OTT content delivery platforms to offer premium Hollywood movies and television in the first ‘Digital Tier’ window available from the studios and networks.”

FilmOn TV Networks offers nearly 1,000 free linear television channels and 70 million monthly unique users worldwide. It is producing original content with Endemol Shine North America and for sister company Hologram USA’s celebrity hologram shows such as Billie Holiday at the Apollo and the upcoming Whitney Houston hologram tour. It recently launched Almost Legal with Tommy Chong – a variety show sponsored by WeedMaps, which receives over 2 million views an episode. FilmOn TV Networks also operates FOTV, broadcasting via Direct TV channel 6 and in the UK and Europe.

David and FilmOn have been leading the fight on behalf of consumers to get access to quality programming online, on demand and at a fair price. The Federal Communications Commission has consulted with him in its efforts to regulate FilmOn and other OTT service providers in the same way as cable companies, and qualify them for MVPD compulsory licence treatment. According to FilmOn, this is a huge strategic trend that would raise all ‘OTT ships’ and give the consumer another alternative to subscription first service providers.

Goldsmith earned a J.D. degree from Southwestern University School of Law and a BS from Marshall School of Business from USC. He is also an inactive member of the California State Bar, WGA, PGA member. Goldsmith is a Founder, Current Board Member, and Treasurer of the Entertainment Industries Council, Inc. (EIC). EIC is a pioneer in ‘Education Entertainment’, produces the Annual Prism Awards and now the new SET Awards for science, engineering and technology recognition in programming that will inspire America’s Youth.
