Levira developing data centre in Estonia

January 21, 2016

Levira is developing the most state-of-the-art data centre in Estonia, which will comply with the international standards of TIER and ISO 27002:2008. The new centre will comprise 300 m2, accommodating 50 server racks.   According to CEO Mart Einpalu, Levira has become the second biggest server host in Estonia thanks to companies’ growing need for high-quality IT services. “By operating the whole infrastructure at the TV Tower, our clients get the best possible solutions: from a cold room to modern cost-effective cloud platforms that cover daily corporate IT needs in terms of office software, production and sales systems as well as developments.”

“Until now we were operating six data centres but as their resources were close to full utilisation, the next logical step was to invest into a new data centre. So we developed a highly economical and cost-effective solution based on best European practices. The new centre will be expanded as the demand grows to meet the personal needs of every client in terms of security and availability,” commented Margus Uustalu, Head of Cloud Services at Levira.

The centre’s environmental friendliness and energy efficiency is ensured by an innovative cooling system and placement of server racks as autonomous modules. Cooling is based on energy-saving technologies. Heat is carried by water that is generally cooled at external temperatures, already in case of a two-degree temperature difference. The energy consumption of circulation pumps and ventilators varies according to the need. The server room consists of a module solution with cold and warm air corridors separated to ensure a high variability of temperatures and efficient heat transfer to external components. The system provides for monitoring of energy consumption of IT equipment (by racks) and technical equipment. New modules, comprising 10 to 14 server racks, will be added based on market demand.

The new centre will be providing server and rack hosting services, and up to 10 GB of data communication links from five telecommunications operators. The technical solutions will ensure an even higher level of personal approach, security and efficiency.

Levira’s team is also available for composing, setting up and moving IT equipment. The modernised control centre will ensure full performance and 24/7 monitoring of the services.   Levira will invest around one million euros into the development. The data centre will be completed in March 2016.
