Qatar-based Es’Hail Sat, now well-advanced with the build of its second satellite, has commissioned the building of a new satellite teleport and Earth station just north of Doha, the Qatari capital city.
The new facility will be ready in 2H/2017. Es’HailSat-2 will launch later this year and provide extra capacity for HDTV and Ultra-HD transmissions, as well as Ka-band capacity for Satellite News Gathering, telco trunking and corporate expansion over the MENA region.
Es’Hail-1 operates from the Arabian ‘hot spot’ of 25.5/26 degrees East. Es’hail-2 will be co-located at the same position, which it also shares with Arabsat.
Es’Hail says discussions are already ongoing with customers and stakeholders to define the requirements for a further satellite – Es’hail-3.
