Danish triple-play operator Waoo! has confirmed the immediate availability of its latest hybrid set-top box, first unveiled at CES in January. The STB is the first in Denmark to support 4K, and among the first in the world to integrate Netflix.

Waoo! became the Internet entertainment streaming service’s third cable partner in November 2013, following Virgin Media in the UK and Com Hem in Sweden.

“It attracted great attention from both home and abroad, when we introduced the box at the CES fair in Las Vegas in January, and it has caused great demand from our customers. We have tested it over the past few weeks and is ready to send it out to customers very soon,” said Jørgen Stensgaard, Waoo! CEO.

Potential customers can order the device from their local fibre network operator.

With increasing consumption of streaming services, Waoo! and STB specialist manufacturer AirTies, worked to make Netflix to a central part of the box functionality. Netflix has been given its own button on the remote control, obviating the need to access different apps on a subscriber’s Smart-TV.

One press of the Netflix button gives users fast access to Netflix’s 4K offering, including shows such as such as Narcos, Marco Polo, House of Cards, Blood Line, Sense8, Marvel’s Jessica Jones, Marvel’s Daredevil, Ridiculous 6, What Happened Miss Simone?, Chef’s Table and Master of None.

“It has been our aim to make it as easy as possible for customers to view a growing range of 4K content. Our super-fast fibre optic network connections make it possible to stream large amounts of data right up to the individual TV, with the set-top box no longer a bottleneck for 4K content,” advised Stensgaard.
