April 22, 2016
To celebrate the 19th anniversary of the Málaga Spanish Film Festival, Olympusat, Inc., the TV and media industry leader specializing in Spanish-language TV networks, will present the “Spanish-language Digital Platforms in the US” panel on April 25th.
“The Málaga Spanish Film Festival has invited us to organise a panel on how Olympusat’s television channels have served to further promote knowledge of the Spanish language in the US”, said Jesus Piñango, Director of TV Content Strategy. “They also have asked us to feature our OTT platform, VEMOX, as a way to access content through all devices such as cellphones, tablets and computers.”
In his presentation, Piñango will highlight the importance of producing more shows in Spanish to respond to the growth in the US Hispanic population, both in terms of size and purchasing power. People of Hispanic origin are the nation’s largest ethnic minority, and as technology shapes the way consumers access entertainment, it is crucial to pay close attention to how this group consumes media.
Olympusat engages more than 8 million Hispanic viewers a day with its premium Spanish-language offerings and also produces high-quality Spanish-language content. The United States, is today, the world’s second largest Spanish-speaking country after Mexico. Therefore Olympusat continues to grow its influential brands and products. Producers, filmmakers and distributors attending the Festival will hear about Olympusat’s strategies to position itself as a leader in the US and Latin American entertainment industry.
“Consumers are increasing their consumption of OTT services, driven by better affordability and a broader content offering”, asserted Piñango.
The Málaga Spanish Film Festival, to be held April 22nd through May 1st, contributes greatly to the development of Spanish-language cinema and Latino productions through screenings of feature films, short films, documentaries and animations. It also pays tribute to diverse personalities in the filmmaking industry and organises numerous lecture series, exhibitions and alternative events.
