SFR has confirmed that it will launch five new sports channels, including one premium, one dedicated to multi sports, one for extreme sports, one for sports news (operated by NextRadio TV) and one for 4K events. Launching in June, the sport channels will not be exclusive to SFR subscribers, and will also be distributed on other platforms.

SFR, renamed SFR Group, is in exclusive negotiations to acquire Altice Media Group France, which publishes more than 20 national titles such as Libération, L’Express, and the acquisition of Altice’s 49 per cent minority investment in NextRadioTV. The group operates such media brands such as BFMTV and RMC as well as RMC Sport, RMC Découverte, BMF Business, 01net.com.

The proposed transaction values NextRadioTV at an enterprise value of €741 million, while Altice Media Group France is valued at €241 million.

“Both transactions represent a unique opportunity to develop SFR into a true cross-media content publisher, capitalising on a highly diversified portfolio of premium brands” SFR explained.
