Vubiquity brings The Missing to international markets

May 12, 2016

Vubiquity, a provider of premium content services, has announced a deal with independent distributor all3media International to bring critically acclaimed television series The Missing to video-on-demand platforms in the Middle East, Africa, South East Europe, and Latin America.

Vubiquity continues to expand in emerging markets and this new deal is part of the company’s on-going strategy to provide its affiliates with top-quality content, often on an exclusive first-run basis, in their territories.

Originally aired on the BBC in the UK and on Starz in the US, the first season of The Missing follows a desperate father as he seeks to piece together what happened to his five-year-old son, who went missing while the family was on holiday in France years earlier. The eight-part thriller gripped the public for two months and was met with critical acclaim. It was nominated for four BAFTA Television Awards, as well as a Golden Globe Award and Primetime Emmy Award.

The licensing deal means that the first season of the series will be available for viewing immediately on SVoD services powered by Vubiquity across the regions covered by the deal. The deal also covers the second season of The Missing, which will be aired in the UK and the US later this year, and will be available on the Vubiquity’s services internationally soon thereafter.

As part of the deal, The Missing, from all3media International, will be exclusive to Vubiquity-powered SVoD services in Cyprus, Greece, Malta, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar and the UAE.

The full list of countries covered by the deal includes: UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Morocco, South Africa, Nigeria, Ghana, Uganda, Zambia, Cameroon, Ghana, Rwanda, Ivory Coast, Swaziland, Botswana, Seychelles, Greece, Cyprus, Malta, Serbia, Slovenia, Bosnia Herzegovina, Montenegro, Croatia, Kazakhstan, Macedonia, Mexico, Argentina, Dominican Republic, Panama, Chile, Uruguay, Costa Rica, and Colombia.

Marco Nadotti, Senior Vice President of Content for Vubiquity, said: “We’re delighted to bring The Missing, from all3media International, to viewers around the world. The Missing is a fine example of the very best in quality television. In the UK it was an outstanding success, due in no small part to an amazing script and award-winning performances. We are delighted to continue to provide our affiliates with very recent, award-winning quality television.”
