Sky Italia: 4K HDR from 2017

May 31, 2016

From Branislav Pekic in Rome

Sky Italia is planning to launch 4K transmissions in HDR (High Dynamic Range) in 2017 which it says will enable a “qualitative leap” of image quality, comparable to what happened during the transition from SD to HD.

In addition Sky Italia will broadcast all 51 matches of the UEFA Euro 2016 football tournament in Super HD technology, developed in-house with international partners, offering images with more vivid colors, more faithful details and greater depth, significantly improving the viewing experience on all existing HD screens.

The option will be available to all subscribers who have been with Sky for three years and have activated the HD as well as the Sport or Calcio packages.
