Sky Sports drops US Open tennis

July 7, 2016

Sky Sports has dropped the US Open tennis tournament from its schedule after 25 years.

It usually makes a year-by-year sub-licence deal for the Grand Slam tournament from Eurosport and aired coverage on its own sports channels.

Sky denies the decision is anything to do with the increased cost of Premier League football. Sky says it remains committed to tennis with rights such as the ATP world tour, which culminates each year with finals at London’s O2 venue.

The US Open tennis tournament will still be available for Sky viewers to watch on Eurosport.
