Movistar drops Canal Plus name
August 2, 2016
From David Del Valle in Madrid
Telefónica’s pay-TV platform Movistar TV has removed Canal Plus name from all its thematic channels following the decision a few months ago to replace Canal Plus with #0.
Now, its thematic channels Canal Plus Estrenos (premiere cinema), Canal Plus Series (TV series) and Canal Plus Fútbol (football) will be named Movistar Estrenos, Movistar Series and Movistar Fútbol, respectively. Besides, the cinema channel DCine Español will be named Movistar Cine Ñ.
Canal Plus Liga will be dropped to the benefit of BeIn La Liga with 8 football matches from La Liga every weekend. Movistar TV has also redesign its logo eliminating the green circle of its letter M and giving a new style to its + symbol (Movistar +).
