Ex-Canal+ chief Meheut joins SFR

November 21, 2016

Bertrand Meheut, the former CEO of Canal+, is to join French multiplay operator SFR (Altice) as vice president of its board of directors, according to French business daily Les Echos, with the appointment set to be formalised Monday 21 November.

Meheut joined Canal+ as Managing Director in 2002 and was appointed CEO the following year, leading the recovery of the group, at the time threatened with bankruptcy. He stepped down as Chairman in September 2015 as Vivendi chairman Vincent Bolloré tightened his grip over the service after becoming Vivendi’s majority shareholder.

“The Supervisory Board wishes to warmly thank Bertrand Meheut for his outstanding work at the helm of Canal+ Group for the last 13 years. He has been responsible for the company’s spectacular recovery and its transformation into the largest French media group, with leading positions in television and film,” said Vivendi at the time.
