November 22, 2016

ATEME has announced that Televarpið, a subsidiary of Faroese Telecom and the incumbent telecommunications provider of the Faroe Islands, has deployed ATEME’s compression and statistical multiplexing solutions for its DVB-T, IPTV and OTT services. Its brand new statmux headend uses ATEME TITAN full-software solution for delivering 50 IPTV/OTT and 32 DTT services across the Faroe Islands with premium HD video quality.

TITAN is a high video quality, high density software compression solution, designed for cable, DTT, DTH, IPTV and OTT. It delivers the highest video quality at minimum bitrates, from mobile resolutions up to UHDp60. TITAN is a complete distribution solution including SDI and IP I/Os, encoder, transcoder, multiplexer, statmux, packager and origin server. With its powerful user interface, management system and extensive set of APIs, TITAN can easily integrate with any ecosystem, reducing time-to-market.

“We were looking for a product that combines high video quality with an ease of use that would simplify operations in the field,” said Edvard í Skorini, CEO at Televarpið. “By choosing ATEME common VBR/CBR/ABR encoding platform, we were able to meet our operational requirements and reduce our CAPEX links.”

Xavier Gentric, Sales Director at ATEME said: “Running on any commercial off-the-shelf server, TITAN is the ideal solution for converged headend, servicing main and multi-screen applications. As the industry is moving to all-IP full-software video solutions, more and more tier 1 broadcasters and service providers approve, adopt and deploy ATEME TITAN solutions all over the globe.”
