DT to compensate after ‘suspicious’ service loss

November 28, 2016

Deutsche Telekom is giving customers a free mobile Internet day pass after a large-scale disruption to its fixed Internet service. DT mobile customers can activate the free pass online, while others need to visit a Telekom shop to receive the offer.

The operator said around 900,000 of its customers, out of a total 20 million on the fixed network, were affected by the problems related to routers. It’s still investigating exactly which routers are affected, as customers are experiencing different problems, ranging from fluctuations in quality to a total lack of internet service.

DT said it can’t rule out that the routers had been the victim of a cyber attack, making it impossible for the devices to register on the network.
