castLabs taps into KLIC

November 30, 2016

KLIC is a major competitor to Netflix in Mexico and is fast-growing in other Latino markets. It is already supplying OTT/VoD films and programming to users, and last week started live streaming of the Club Deportivo Guadalajara matches on PPV.

KLIC is backed by movie theatre chain Cinépolis, and digital video technology business castLabs on November 28th announced a partnership with Cinépolis to supply their multi-platform video playback technology and DRM licence management service for KLIC’s VoD service.

The service offers a catalogue of more than 1,500 movie titles and pay-per-event live content, Cinépolis KLIC launched in 2013 to take advantage of the fast-growing Mexican OTT market. KLIC is an extension to Cinépolis’ cinema operations across North America, South America, Europe and Asia. Its position as a leading cinema operator in Mexico has given Cinépolis unique cross-promotional opportunities, driving KLIC’s success.

castLabs has offices in Los Angeles and Berlin. Cinépolis claims to be the fourth-largest movie theatre exhibitor in the world with some 4348 screens spread over 13 countries.
