A bundle of seven TV channels is being launched for pan-African viewing by Egypt’s Radio & TV Union (ERTU) and using Arabsat’s 5-C satellite.

The agreement is important to Arabsat because the ERTU normally uses its own part-owned Nilesat satellites for its home and MENA market. Arabsat 5-C delivers a much wider footprint.

Wael Al Buti, CCO at Arabsat said: “The Egyptian bouquet includes seven TV channels that will be fully broadcast via Arabsat satellite 5-C. It will be transmitted to all parts of the African continent and this will make it the most interesting and exciting for the viewer.”

Hussein Zain, President of the Specialized TV Channels Sector at Cairo’s ERTU, said: “We are pleased to cooperate with Arabsat, targeting to cover the African continent through Arabsat satellites, we look forward to further cooperation in the coming period.”
