Brazil hitting DTT targets

January 17, 2017

According to Brazil’s official body responsible for digital adoption, GIRED, the nation’s capital Brasilia is making rapid progress towards total adoption of digital TV.

GIRED says 338,000 digital converter boxes/receivers and antennas were supplied, representing 90 per cent of the total base of TV homes in the region.

The regional government is issuing free-of-charge digital kits (a STB and aerial) to homes already on some sort of social or welfare payment.

The task is expected to be complete by the end of January when resources will then be focussed on Sao Paulo.
