World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) has revealed in its Q4 2016 earnings release that its WWE Network SVoD service had 1.5 million paid subscribers as of January 31st 2017 – up from 1.41 million on the same period 12 months ago.

Subscriber numbers break down to 1.1 million in the US and 400,000 internationally. WWE previously reported 1.458 million subscribers at the end of the third quarter in 2016 – 1.071 million in the US and 373,000 internationally.

The company’s annual flagship PPV Wrestlemania takes place on April 2nd. The build-up is a key period on the company’s calendar, and CEO Vince McMahon is expected to push the WWE Network service hard during TV programming to further boost subscriber numbers.
