TiVo exiting Australia and NZ

March 2, 2017

DVR specialists TiVo is pulling the plug on its Australian and New Zealand set-top boxes.

In a statement revealing the switch-ff date, TiVo said: “your TiVo device will have extremely limited functionality and we discourage customers from using it after 31 October.”

TiVo added that it is “sad to report” that it has reached the end of its licence after almost 10 years of service in the country. The EPG will die, and elements such as the “season pass” and “wish list” will also end.

TiVo’s local distributor, Hybrid TV, is softening the blow somewhat by offering customers a A$100 discount voucher for the rival Fetch TV Mighty recording device (which normally retails at A$399).

TiVo originally sold its boxes at A$699, but have not been retailed since 2013.
