March 2, 2017

ZTE Corporation, an international provider of telecommunications, enterprise and consumer technology solutions for the Mobile Internet, has announced the official release of its end to end (E2E) virtual reality (VR) live solution at Mobile World Congress 2017.

ZTE’s E2E VR live solution includes 4 key components: VR content capture, elastic networks, a premium video platform and VR software development kits/set-top box.

At MWC, ZTE demonstrated its low-latency 2K P30 VR broadcast service based on wireless networks and wired networks with 360-degree panorama video and mobile capture video presented to visiting customers via VR terminals, VR mobile phone applications and STBs. The VR live solution shortens the delay to less than 2 seconds, and the new VR EPG6.0 also gives users the ultimate interactive experience. The low-latency VR multicast solution effectively reduces the access network pressure and greatly reduces CAPEX, and just-in-time packaging and transcoding technology ensures efficient content distribution and VR live quality.

ZTE’s E2E VR SDK/STB solution delivers an enhanced viewing experience to homes around the world. Integrating VR decoding ability, ZTE HC100 is an advanced STB, which integrates the industry-leading super 4-core CPU and 5-core GPU to realize VR Live & VOD stream decoding and provide users with an excellent VR video experience. ZTE’s big video market share continues to lead and, as of now, has more than 90 commercial cases with the system capacity of 80 million users, as well as over 100 CDN commercial cases, with a total concurrent capacity of more than 100Tbps. With 6 million users, Jiangsu Telecom is the world’s largest single provider of IPTV/OTT. As VR technology continues to develop, ZTE will continue to expand more applications and business models in the field of VR, to provide users with a more vivid visual experience.
