SES boss explains Sat-2017 “no show”
March 7, 2017
Every year the Satellite Show in Washington DC presents a panel made up of the CEOs of the very top satellite operators. SES has always been present… except this year.
SES CEO Karim Michel Sabbagh usually sits alongside the heads of Intelsat, Eutelsat, Telesat and Inmarsat, but this year told trade mag Space Intel Report that he is simply too busy. He denied that potential problems with immigration under the new Presidential rules figured in his decision.
SES is also not taking space on the show’s exhibition floor.
Sabbagh said that he knew nine months ago that many obligations would come to a head in February and March, and that this was a time when he would be busy. “It’s a question of priorities and where I need to deploy my time. However, a number of my colleagues are participating, Steve Collar, O3b CEO, is going to be there, and our development chief Christophe de Hauwer and our CCO Ferdinand Kayser,” he added.
