Stewart appointed VP Distribution, Italy for Sony Pictures Television

Sony Pictures Television (SPT) has named Zelda Stewart as Vice President Distribution, Italy.

Reporting to Senior Vice President, Distribution, Andreas Brosjo, Stewart will drive SPT’s distribution across Italy on all platforms in broadcast, digital and VOD.  She takes up her post as head of the Italian distribution team this month and will be based in Milan, where the company will open another office in the summer.

Stewart joins SPT from Mediaset, Italy’s largest commercial broadcaster, where she has been Head of Acquisitions since 2005.  

Brosjo said: “Zelda has unrivalled knowledge of the Italian media landscape and a deep understanding of what buyers need.  She is poised to further our ambitions in Italy and brings incredible insight and skill to this important market.”

Stewart has spent the last two decades in Italy, firstly at the Disney Channel in marketing then production before joining Mediaset as an acquisitions executive in 2001.  In the UK, Stewart held posts at Polygram, Flextech Television and The Economist.

Educated at London’s University of Westminster and Italy’s Universita degli Studi di Padova, Stewart has a degree in Italian and French and speaks four languages.

Sony Pictures Television international distribution licenses SPT’s catalogue of movies & TV series to television networks and video on demand platforms in more than 200 territories. SPT’s distribution catalogue offers over 4,000 feature films, from early classics in its Screen Gems collection, to contemporary titles as well as more than 500 television series and 400 telefilms. Television content covers a range of genres such as drama, comedy and light entertainment. SPT international distribution also licenses light entertainment and scripted formats to broadcasters around the world.
