Spectral Edge launches Vividteq

September 7, 2017

Spectral Edge has released Vividteq, a unique colour filter technology that dynamically improves image quality and enables service providers to deliver HDR-like experiences to their premium subscribers, with no need to replace or update customer equipment.

While High Dynamic Range (HDR) technology promises more vivid pictures with greater colour depth, most existing TVs and set top boxes simply don’t support it, holding back adoption by pay-TV and OTTtv service providers.

Vividteq overcomes this challenge. Deployed within the broadcast head-end or Content Delivery Network (CDN), it extracts and enhances live TV or VoD in real-time on a frame by frame basis using Spectral Edge’s unique Phusion image processing technology to produce an enhanced feed, suitable for broadcast via terrestrial, cable, satellite or IPTV channels.

“The broadcast industry is changing fast and service providers know that they need to differentiate themselves to drive subscriber loyalty and increased revenues,” said Rhodri Thomas, CEO, Spectral Edge. “HDR offers a key opportunity to achieve this and we’re already seeing real excitement and market interest in our technology, given its ability to deliver the benefits of HDR without needing to replace existing equipment.”
