PCCW Global, the international operating division of HKT, Hong Kong’s premier telecommunications service provider, has won the Best Anti-Fraud Initiative award at the prestigious Capacity Africa Awards held in Kampala, Uganda this month.
PCCW Global won the award for its ValueMax carrier product, which includes SMS market intelligence structured as a service and firewall protection that delivers vital business insights which have been elusive to Mobile Network Operators (MNOs). ValueMax enables MNOs to sensibly maximise revenues with Application to Person (A2P) business development.
The SMS market intelligence leverages PCCW Global’s position as an international carrier to instantly assess price demand and price offers of delivering SMS, enabling an MNO to better understand the current market price for its network and can accurately assess demand and pricing for SMS messages to their native mobile subscribers. ValueMax provides MNOs with the ability to recover lost revenue and reduce fraud.
Ronnie Klingner, President, Mobility, Security and Digital Solutions, PCCW Global, said, “One of the most common ways that MNOs networks are attacked is through exploitation of “grey routes”. Unfortunately, when it comes to sophisticated bypass methods, traditional security measures have not been meaningfully productive. As an intelligent security system, ValueMax is able to leverage PCCW Global’s position as an international network operator and make use of advanced machine learning to identify possible network vulnerabilities as well as the source of inappropriate campaigns.”
Klingner added, “ValueMax is an end-to-end SMS service which combines a best-in-class SMS firewall solution with an extra security layer that includes firewall setup and validation, and continuous firewall stress testing. Another key security feature of ValueMax is that it is able to run in parallel existing firewall environments.”
