MoMedia, the digital distributor and content management company, has signed a string of TVoD deals for the second season of Simon’s Cat, under which Endemol Shine Group’s animated comedy series will roll out across the major EST (electronic sell-through) stores in the run-up to Christmas.
The new Simon’s Cat package will initially be available on Apple’s iTunes Store in the US, Canada, Australia, the UK, France and Germany. After an exclusive two-week window on Apple iTunes, it will launch on Amazon, Google Play and several other transactional stores. The content consists of six collections of around 6 x 6 mins, including Valentine, Halloween and Christmas specials. In the US these will be available for $0.99 per collection, or $5.99 if bought as a package.
Lucas Bertrand, CEO of MoMedia, said: “As a cat-loving company, we’re thrilled to be helping Simon, his cat and Endemol Shine turn a YouTube sensation into a major TVoD property. We launched the first special this time last year and helped drive it into the number-one spot in five of the six iTunes stores. In digital stores, promotion is the make-or-break factor, and the Simon’s Cat team at Endemol Shine has done a fantastic job generating interest and awareness across social-media platform. We built on this brand recognition to cross-promote the series with the EST stores, and the result has been the cat’s pyjamas in every sense.
Simon’s Cat, which follows the antics of a perpetually hungry white cat and his put-upon owner, will be given exclusive promotions from November 6th to 20th in all six iTunes TV stores in the US, Canada, UK, Australia, France and Germany. The YouTube phenomenon was founded by award-winning animator and creator Simon Tofield and first appeared online in 2008 with the animated film Cat Man Do. Endemol Shine UK acquired a controlling share in the company in 2015. Simon’s Cat has over 12 million global fans with nearly 1.5 billion video views across Facebook and YouTube. The brand also has a number of successful global consumer offerings across gaming, publishing, apparel and giftware.
