Reliance DTH gets a life-line

November 7, 2017

India’s Reliance Big digital TV operation has changed its mind to close its service, and instead signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Delhi-based Veecon Media & Television. The agreement sees Reliance sell its DTH operation to Veecon.

Reliance had said that it would close its DTH service on November 18th, timed when its licence to operate expires.

Local reports say that Veecom will buy all the shares of the Reliance DTH operation, and is expected to pay Reliance’s obligations to its broadcast content suppliers, who have long-overdue claims on the business.

Reliance has some 1.2 million subscribers.
