November 13, 2017

HBO Go has launched HBO Go, its standalone SVoD service, in four new European countries: Slovakia, Czech Republic, Romania and Hungary.

The launches mean that viewers in the central European countries will be able to watch current popular shows including Game of Thrones, Westworld, Veep and Silicon Valley as well as locally-sourced titles uncluding Shadows, Silent Valley (Romania), Wasteland (Czech Republic) and Golden Life (Hungary). The service will also offer a back catalogue of iconic HBO shows including The Wire and The Sopranos.

Additionally, HBO Go will premiere a number new hit movies, such as Beauty and the Beast, Trainspotting 2, Jackie and Assassin’s Creed.

In the four countries, the direct-to-consumer offering will be offered in addition to the already established HBO channels and services.

“HBO Go via affiliates is already a huge success in Central Europe, but our goal is to make it even easier for the many series lovers in these countries to access HBO’s premium content. The launch of HBO Go direct to consumers in Central Europe is a natural step for us after successful launches of HBO streaming services in Spain, Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland,” commented Hervé Payan, CEO HBO Europe.
