Euskaltel allies with Orange

Basque Country-based cable operator Euskaltel has entered into an alliance with Orange to use its symmetrical optic fibre and break into other Spanish Regions.

The cable operator aims to become a big player in the regional cable business and has set its eyes on Navarra and other Spanish regions such as Cantabria, La Rioja and Castilla Leon to expand.

In Navarra, Euskaltel plans to capture 78,500 households in January 2018 and double it in four years to reach 150,000.

Euskaltel has recently acquired Telecable in Asturias and R in Galicia. The company also reached an agreement with Netflix to improve its premium content.

Euskaltel aims to become the fifth biggest operator in Spain on a national level (after Telefónica, Orange, Vodafone, Masmovil) and the first on a Regional basis.
