New-York based startup We Are TV, an IOS and Android AR app that launched in October, has reported 100,000 users. Available in both France and the US, We are TV allows viewers to interact with live, replay or VoD programming and enhance their experience by playing games or by posting and reading comments.

“This number of users makes of We Are TV the most popular AR app since Pokémon Go and the most downloaded app in the entertainment section of Apple Store” said Jacques Essebag (aka Arthur), one of the founders of the venture. He partners include three former Dailymotion executives including founder Martin Rogard.

We Are TV’s business model is based on in-app purchases akin to mobile games, but other sources of revenues are planned. Negotiations with broadcasters in France and the international market are on-going. The creators anticipate one million users within the next 12 months.
