UK-based Satellite Solutions Worldwide Grp Ltd (SSW) has signed a sales and marketing agreement with Eutelsat and ViaSat joint-venture for a European-focused broadband-by-satellite service.

The Eutelsat/ViaSat joint venture involves immediate use of the Eutelsat Ka-Sat satellite as well as a new ViaSat craft yet to be launched.  SSW says that it has achieved a key target for itself, reaching 100,000 customers by the end of this year except that the number was achieved a month ahead of target.

SSW adds that the new broadband thrust will initially roll out in Poland and Norway, followed by Sweden and Finland.

“We are delighted to be working closely with the joint venture company established by ViaSat and Eutelsat,” said Andrew Walwyn, SSW CEO.

Evan Dixon, CMO for the ViaSat/Eutelsat joint-venture, added: “Our goal is to bring high-quality broadband to areas where traditional wired broadband providers cannot.  To support our mission, SSW is a natural partner as they have a proven operation that will enable us to quickly and effectively bring better broadband options to consumers in select European countries.”
