The Digital Switchover in Nigeria, known as ‘Free TV’ has continued its roll out across the nation by successfully launching in Kwara and Kaduna states. The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) switched on Digital Terrestrial Television transmission in Kwara state on 20th December, 2017 and in Kaduna state on 22nd December, 2017.

The ceremony in Ilorin, Kwara state, took place at the premises of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) and the launch in Kaduna took place at the Pinnacle Broadcast Ltd premises.

The events were attended by the Honourable Minister for Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, Director General of the NBC, Mall. Is’haq Modibbo Kawu, the Governors for each state as well as all digital switchover stakeholders including Inview Nigeria’s CEO, Olumade Adesemowo.

Inview Nigeria, involved in both launches, has supported the NBC from the early stages of the process, both technically and operationally. Inview’s software and services will be integrated onto all of the set-top boxes for the Nigeria digital switchover.

Nick Markham, Chairman of Inview commented: “We are delighted that the NBC have continued the roll out to both Kwara and Kaduna states following on from the launches in Jos and Abuja in 2016. We look forward to continuing to support the NBC in achieving Digital Switchover in Nigeria and transforming the TV viewing experience.”

The digital switchover is expected to roll out to a further two states within the next couple of months.
