Spanish telcos raise convergent tariffs

Telefónica, Vodafone and Orange are hiking the prices of their convergent packages in an attempt to get higher revenues.
The combination of low cost promotions and the high bill they’re paying for football TV rights is driving them down a dead end in terms of profitability. To mitigate this, they increasing prices by up to €5 a month for their convergent packages adding more speed and capacity, additional lines or other added-value services.
Vodafone is raising their prices by between €2 and €5 in exchange for more services like its zero-rated messaging Chat Pass and Social Pass, additional mobile lines and more speed.
The Chat Pass now allows subscribers to enjoy data free access to Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Linkedin, Snapchat, Tinder, Flickr, Tumblr, Grindr, Badoo, Meetic, Adopta un tio, Periscope and eDarling.
The packages Vodafone One S, M and L plans will rise from €53, €64 and €77 a month to €57, €68 and €81 a month respectively starting from 01 April.
