Spain: Pay-TV sets TV consumption record

Spain’s pay-TV share reached 22.8 per cent in January, the highest in its history according to the Barlovento Comunicación firm. IPTV took 10.1 per cent followed by cable with 9.8 per cent and satellite with 2.8 per cent.

DTT is the most used distribution system to watch TV in Spain with 76.8 per cent.

Spaniards spent 261 minutes a day in front of the TV, out of which 255 minutes were spent watching linear TV. According to Barlovento, over 32.9 million Spaniards watch TV every day. Potential viewers in the country amount to 44.6 million.

1,349,000 Spaniards claimed they did not watch a single minute of TV in January.
