Amazon Prime Video, which launched one year ago in France, is now undertaking its first original production.

The SVoD platform has unveiled its first French-German comedy entitled Deutsch-les-Landes. The 10 x 30min coproduction, with Newen in France, Bavaria Fiction and Deutsche Telekom in Germany, will be shot in April near Bordeaux and launched towards the end of the year.

According to Les Echos the budget is €6 million. The casting includes French movie actresses Marie-Anne Chazel and Sylvie Testud along with French-Austrian Roxane Duran.

This show will be exclusively online in France and Belgium, and on the Deutsche Telekom service in Germany. Recent TV series acquisitions mean Prime is now offering 20 local titles.

Amazon Prime Video is available in France to all subscribers to Amazon Prime for €49 per year. Viewers can also get the service alone for €3.99 per month until April. Afterwards the fee will jump to €5.99. No subscription figures have been released yet.
