7TV’s streaming service is expanding its portfolio and offering its users video content from SPORT1, WELT, and N24 Doku. The deal includes both live streaming and catch-up content. This is the first third party content partnership deal since the joint venture between ProSiebenSat.1 and Discovery was announced. The 7TV platform’s ambition is to create a platform offering a wide range of channels and content to consumers on a single app.
Alexander Vassilev, CEO of 7TV, says: “The new content partners underscore our persistent strategy of an open approach and our endeavour to create the VoD platform for German speaking TV content and live TV for all digital channels through 7TV.”
Daniel von Busse, COO TV and Member of the Executive Board for SPORT1: “With the expansion of 7TV, we are backing up our claim of providing video services such as our Free TV station and select video content as comprehensively as possible via many relevant players.
Dr. Torsten Rossmann, Managing Director WeltN24: “For us the availability of our stations for relevant, user-friendly offers is beneficial both from a user and a business perspective.”
7TV is expanding its management and appointing Alexander von Woikowsky as Chief Content Officer and Managing Director of 7TV to oversee partnerships and distribution. He joins from ProSiebenSat.1, where he has worked as a Director of Key Account Management in the Distribution department.
Since the premium streaming service was launched in October 2017, viewers have had access to nine of the most popular broadcast television stations in Germany. The following station content is available via the 7TV app and the digital platforms: ProSieben, SAT.1, kabel eins, DMAX, sixx, ProSieben MAXX, SAT.1 Gold, kabel eins Doku, and TLC. There is also a Eurosport zone with sports highlights and videos.
