Beeks joins QYOU board of directors

March 27, 2018

QYOU Media, a curator of premium ‘best-of-web’ video for multiscreen distribution, has announced that industry veteran and former Co-COO and Co-Motion Picture President of Lionsgate, Steve Beeks, has joined QYOU Media’s Board of Directors.

A twenty-year veteran of Lionsgate Entertainment, and a key strategist in the growth of its motion picture and home entertainment divisions, Beeks left Lionsgate late last year to participate in new ‎entrepreneurial business opportunities, including those focused on the emerging growth markets of mobile viewership and digital-first content. His board appointment with QYOU Media marks his first move in pursuit of those endeavours.

“I have been increasingly intrigued by the shifting paradigm in all facets of entertainment over the past several years.  The emergent growth potential is shifting from conventional platforms to disruptive models, such as digital-first content, OTT and mobile delivery as millennial audiences become the dominant consumer demographic around the world.  QYOU was an early entrant into this new world and has built a global business in web-first content for this new generation and is well-poised to take advantage is this growing shift.  I’ve known QYOU’s CEO, Curt Marvis, for many years and I am a fan of the company vision.  I’m delighted to join Curt and his team as a board member”, Beeks said.

Marvis added: “Steve is well known and highly respected across the industry for his leadership at Lionsgate and his role in its remarkable success story. I am thrilled to have someone with his caliber of expertise and deep experience working closely with us as we head toward our goal of making QYOU a leading global millennial-entertainment brand.”

Beeks appointment is subject to TSX Venture Exchange approval, which is expected to occur later this month.
