Spain: Ten seeks to lease DTT licence

April 17, 2018

From David Del Valle in Madrid

Secuoya Group, owner of Spanish DTT channel Ten, is seeking to lease its DTT licence to combat its declining financial situation, the channel reported over €6 million in losses in last year.

The company is reportedly holding talks with several major broadcasters such as Discovery, Fox, Sony and AMC in search of a partner or content provider for the relaunch of the channel under a new brand.

Ten started its operations in 2016 with a big investment of €11 million and €22 million in the second year but failed to reach a satisfactory audience share and, consequently, ad revenues. The channel had planned to pull in an average share of 2 per cent but it only achieved 0.4 per cent.
